Deduptio vs Neon Deer Duplicate Detection
Last updated August 11, 2026 · Deduptio is our product — claims about Neon Deer's app come from their public docs, linked below.
Duplicate Detection for Attio by Neon Deer Data Labs is a free app in the Attio marketplace that watches your workspace and flags duplicate People and Companies within seconds of a record being created or updated. Deduptio is a full deduplication product: it scans any Attio object, groups duplicates with configurable match rules, and merges them in bulk with a 24-hour rollback.
The short version:these tools solve different halves of the problem. Neon Deer's app tells you a duplicate just appeared; Deduptio actually removes duplicates — including the backlog you already have. If your workspace is already clean and you only want an early-warning system, the free app may be enough. If you have duplicates to get rid of, detection alone won't do it.

Detection is not cleanup
Neon Deer's app is genuinely good at what it does: it subscribes to Attio webhooks on email, domain and social attributes, canonicalizes Gmail addresses, follows domain redirects, and files every suspected duplicate into "Duplicate People" and "Duplicate Companies" lists with an audit trail of why the match fired. As a free early-warning system for new duplicates coming in from forms, imports and enrichment, it's hard to argue with.
What it deliberately doesn't do is fix anything. Every flagged pair still has to be opened and merged by hand in Attio, one at a time — fine at five duplicates a week, painful at five hundred in the backlog. It also only watches People and Companies, so duplicate deals, projects or any custom object never get flagged at all.
Deduptio starts from the other end: scan the whole object, group everything that matches your rules, review the groups (or don't — dry-run previews are free and unlimited), and merge in bulk with Attio's native merge so emails, calls, notes and activity history survive. Every merge is snapshotted and reversible for 24 hours. See how merging works and match rules & scanning.
Price: free app vs free plan
Neon Deer's app is free, with one caveat — domain-redirect matching depends on a checkredirects.io subscription (free for 250 requests, then $10 per 10,000, as of August 2026). Deduptio's Free planis also genuinely usable: scans on objects up to 10,000 records, exact matching, scheduled scans, and 25 live merges a month with full rollback. Pro at $59/month removes the merge limit, adds fuzzy matching, and raises the cap to 100,000 records per object. If you'd rather not touch it at all, the $500 managed cleanup has us do the whole thing for you, human-reviewed.
Which one should you pick?
- Pick Neon Deer's app if your workspace is already clean, you only track People and Companies, and you want free real-time alerts as new duplicates appear.
- Pick Deduptio if you have an existing duplicate problem to clean up, you need custom objects covered, or you want merging to be a one-click bulk operation instead of a manual chore.
- Use both— they don't conflict. The app flags new arrivals in seconds; Deduptio's scheduled scans and bulk merges keep the whole workspace clean.
Try Deduptio free — connect Attio, run a scan, and see your duplicate groups in a couple of minutes. Scans never change any data.
